Of all the major US cities, Los Angeles is the city we most recommend renting a car when visiting. Rates are cheap and all of the major car rental chains include unlimited miles in California. A convertible perhaps?
Neil Diamond sings "LA's fine the sun shines most of the time/And the people are laid back/Palm trees growing and rents are low". That pretty much sums up the Golden State's most populous city.

Shuttle services are the cheapest and most relaxing way to get from the airport to basically anywhere in the greater Los Angeles area. Avoid the taxi hassle. The two main providers are Super Shuttle and Prime Time. We recommend both.
